Black Labrador and Cat Pet Portrait in Pencil

Pet Portraits in Graphite Pencil

This pet portrait is of a black labrador Hamish and a cat Oscar. The portrait was combined from two photographs to create a montage of both Hamish and Oscar beside each other. It was drawn with graphite pencils and it is 30 x 25cm in size. The drawing was mounted in a mount with a backing board, and posted well wrapped to the client who had the drawing framed locally. The drawing was sprayed with an artist fixative to ensure for a long lasting life.

Client Photographs

Here are the two photographs that were joined for this montage pet portrait. The light was quite different in both photos, one was taken outdoors, one indoors, so I had to adjust Oscar's highlights in the portrait to match Hamish's outdoor photo.

"I love the picture, you captured them both perfectly, especially Oscar.... I received it yesterday morning and took it straight to the framers, it's lovely. You did a wonderful job, thank you very much!"
